BOSTON, Massachusetts, USA -- Wednesday, May 20, 2009 -- The Free Software Foundation (FSF) and Cisco Systems, Inc. are pleased to announce that they have reached a joint agreement.
Under the agreement, the FSF has agreed to dismiss its lawsuit against Cisco.

We, the Free Software Movement Team having been consistently working to build the Free Software Movement in Karnataka, have decided to consolidate our efforts by forming an organisation. Our work has been built on the work of the pioneers of Free Software in the country.
After much deliberation, we have decided to name our organisation the 'Free Software Movement - Karnataka' to symbolise the all inclusiveness of the Movement. What differentiates us from other LUGs,FSUGs, groups, organisations or networks is our approach to building
Who is Eben Moglen? His professional credentials say that he is a professor of Law and Legal History at Columbia University. He is the founder, director – counsel and chairman of the Software Freedom Law Centre(http://www.softwarefreedom.org/). His clients include numerous ‘pro bono’ institutions such as the Free Software Foundation. Eben began his career as a systems programmer for IBM in 1979. After receiving his Law degree, Eben worked as an IP (intellectual property) attorney for IBM in the Yorktown Lab of IBM Research.
Eben Moglen, came to Bangalore, with a packed itinerary, which included lectures at the top
educational institutions in the country and also a program organized by Kannada Bloggers. He was
presented with a rare gift on his arrival - a book penned by the children of AC3 based on their personal experiences at the center. The book was titled "The Future is Ours". Eben Moglen considered the gift as truly special, primarily because the children, from the most marginalized community in India belong to the class of society towards whom his sympathies, as a premier leftist, would flow.
In Bangalore, known as the IT hub of India, only a few would be even aware of the existence of
Sudharshan Layout, one of the many slums in the interiors of Bangalore. But on the 2nd weekend of
Microsoft DreamSpark is a programme from Microsoft primarily aimed at giving software titles under its hood free of charge for students. A student needs to provide a proof of student status for access to these softwares. As a follow-up to the DreamSpark programme, Microsoft is entering a tie-up with VTU to include the softwares that are part of DreamSpark to the VTU curriculum.
