Free Software Movement-Karnataka has been working on spreading the ideology and technology Free Software embodies for a few years now.
As we primarily work with students, we need to encapsulate their ideas and perceptions in a better way.
FSMK Logo serves this purpose, and popular opinion has been that we need to revamp the current FSMK Logo (look at the page header).

The new logo should not drift away from the Free Software ideology and the objectives of FSMK. To clarify the details which will have to be embodied into the new logo, here are a set of specifications/suggestions:

1. The logo shall symbolise freedom in digital space; Simple and profound
2. The logo shall have the Indian ( better, if Karnataka's) context of Free Software in it
3. The logo shall be a Vector graphic, and not a captured photograph
4. The Logo shall embody the caption of FSMK "Free Software is the future, Future is ours"
5. If vector graphics aren't being used, then the final design must be in the highest resolution possible ( minimum resolution 1024x768) and in PNG (Portable Network Graphic) format
6. The graphic can be uploaded to http://imgur.com/ and an archived version of the same must be uploaded to FSMK site in the webform below
7. Graphic must be licensed under http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:CC-BY-SA-3.0
8. To conform with the Free Software ideology wholly, we recommend excellent Free Software tools like GIMP, Inkspace, and other GPL compliant utilities for the design.
9.The Copyright of the new logo will be held by FSMK, although the logo itself will be licensed under Creative Commons 3.0 -Share Alike License
10. The new logo for FSMK will be made official on Software Freedom Day in September, 2011

Last Date for submissions: 20th of August,2011

Prize: The final selected logo will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000/- and accessories with the new logo.
